Vice President, Finance – Private Funds

Position Summary:
As a key member of the Brookfield Renewable Private Funds Finance and Operations Team, the Vice President will lead and oversee Fund Finance and Operations of our renewable private funds, primarily the new series of impact funds focusing on investments that accelerate the world’s transition to a net-zero carbon economy while investing in a manner consistent with Brookfield’s approach of investing in high-quality, sustainable assets that form the backbone of the global economy. The Fund will be led by BAM Vice Chair Mark Carney, who is a global leader in climate change and sustainability.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Finance, the Vice President will be accountable for established funds, and for supporting the development fund formation, and marketing efforts of new Funds managed within the Brookfield Renewable Power Group. In addition, the Vice President will provide financial and advisory support to key business leaders within Renewable and broader Brookfield team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter that enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has excellent communication skills, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and has a strong foundation in private fund finance and operations.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities within the first year will include supporting the launch and build-out of finance processes and operations for this new series of funds. On an ongoing basis, responsibilities include leading a team by managing, reviewing, and participating in the entire fund operations and reporting process such as:
• Ownership of all financial, management and investor reporting under various accounting frameworks (US GAAP Investment Company Accounting, IFRS);
• Deliver performance reporting metrics for the private funds and portfolio investments, including valuations and investment returns;
• Manage the external audit and tax reporting processes with big 4 firms;
• Compile content for fund presentations which includes but is not limited to the analysis of operating results, liquidity, debt and hedging strategies;
• Oversight of the analysis of Fund financial data and operating metrics for quarterly review presentations submitted to senior management and investors;
• Prepare or review business plan information which includes forecasted and projected financials, strategic initiatives and industry cycle overview;
• Review investor capital calls and distribution notices;
• Oversight and collaboration with treasury, capital management and risk management;
• Collaborate with the M&A team on Fund transactions;
• Provide leadership to the broader team in support of a collaborative and team-oriented
environment;

Skills & Qualifications:

• CA or CPA designation, with at least 10 years of progressive work experience in
accounting/finance functions with 3 years of people management experience;
• Fund Finance and Operations experience required and must have had experience setting up
a Fund.
