Job Description

Individual Accountabilities:

  • Ensures that physical and virtual infrastructure support platform and software operations
  • Selects, upgrades and integrates new technologies; maintains existing technologies
  • Documents critical dependencies and issues where necessary
  • Resolves critical technical issues relating to software or hardware
  • Ensures that large-scale distributed systems operate optimally
  • Builds code to specifications and standards
  • Builds and codes moderately complex software
  • Minimal time coaching teammates
  • Contributes code across BUs

  • Works effectively in team environments to solve production incidents when low levels of automation are present
  • Leads complex troubleshooting and resolve critical or escalated technical issues over a significant population of affected software or equipment
  • Leads and participates in the development of processes and documentation for new areas of work or knowledge
  • Actively involved in platform automation and orchestration, both from a technical standpoint and a process point of view
  • Proactively formulates and manages processes, defining how a reporting solution can use the platform, identify risks and issues
  • Supports teams with uninterrupted service as they transitions from legacy ways of working to adopt new best practices, frameworks and technologies

Job Requirements:

  • Deep Knowledge of Oracle enterprise DBMS and peripherals on Exadata with production support experience in a multi-project environment including performance and tuning with server configuration and tracing exposure
  • Knowledge of SQL Server, Postgres SQL, No SQL, My SQL and Mongo DB will be desirable
  • Maintenance, monitoring and performance tuning of validated production Database environments
  • Adherence to good Database Design principles
  • Experience with clustering, high availability and standby database technologies
  • Familiarity with Exadata
  • Familiarity with Database monitoring tools and technologies (Foglight, Enterprise Manager, etc)
  • Strong skills with corporate standard Operating Systems (Unix/Linux/Windows) in a multi-domain environment
  • Good working knowledge of job scheduling and monitoring tools
  • Develop technical specifications, coordinate and conduct database design reviews
  • Expert troubleshooting and creative problem-solving skills

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with IT project managers, programmers, architects,
  • Lead role in Design, development, administration, performance monitoring, reporting, and tuning for database technology
  • Development, management, implementation and maintenance of back-ups & recovery procedures
  • Planning, oversight, Development, testing and execution of Disaster recovery processes
  • Reviewing and tuning SQL and technology-specify database coding technologies (PL/SQL,isql, etc)
  • Development, implementation and management of shell and sql scripts used for process automation and streamlining
  • Plan, oversee, Develop, implement and maintain security, compliance, audit and access control frameworks and management of related documentation
  • Plan, oversee, Develop, implement and maintain database setup, installation, configuration, monitoring and maintenance, as well as management of related documentation
  • Capacity planning, Trending and forecasting
  • Liaise with development team in the full development life cycle of database applications
  • Mentoring of team members and Developers
  • Lead role in database and server patching and currency initiatives
  • Participate in on-call support rotation including after-hours/weekend duties
  • Tune performance and ensure high availability of infrastructure, including operating system and storage subsystem
  • Participate in enterprise architectural planning sessions

Qualifications

  • BSC Information Systems / Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 7+ years experience managing production Oracle environments
