You will be part of a dynamic team of professionals that implements and supports z/OS Database and Online System Software. As with all technical positions in this team, you will be 3rd-level support for system problems and will participate in the on-call 24 by 7 support rotation. TELUS is contracted to all of our customers to provide fully supported levels of z/OS Database and Online system software and in doing so we ensure the highest level of quality systems for our customers.

Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish together

You will collaborate with the team to:

  • Install, upgrade and maintain layered Program Products
  • Design, develop and maintain the Systems Operational and Technical documentation
  • Create and execute Disaster Recovery procedures for the supported products and clients
  • Develop innovative solutions to resolve problems
  • Assist with Capacity Planning and Performance Analysis for supported systems
  • Evaluate and recommend third party OEM software products
  • Ensure all systems are kept at supported and serviceable levels
  • Participate in the provision of 24x7x365 pager coverage rotation
  • Service requests sent to the group mailbox
  • Interface and assist Customers, Application Programmers, and other support teams with problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Provide technical information presentations to clients as required for z/OS Database and Online Systems

You’re the missing piece of the puzzleIf you have 5+ years’ experience in one or more of the disciplines below, you may be the perfect complement to our team:

  • In-depth knowledge of z/OS, SMP/E, IMS, CICS, DB2, DATACOM, IDMS, MQ and UNIX System Services
  • Thorough understanding of IBM z/OS Started Tasks and IPL processes
  • General knowledge of mainframe disk storage, backup and recovery practices
  • Experienced with automated operations (AutoOperator)
  • In-depth knowledge of IBM assembler and REXX programming
  • Ability to learn new software products

You will have a University degree, technical diploma, other recognized training and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Great-to-have

  • Self-starter with the ability to support both day-to-day activities, problem resolution, and assigned project work concurrently
  • Effective communication skills – working with team members as well as our customers
  • Experience working in a technical support environment
