Job Summary

The Senior Enterprise Architect, Application and Integration is responsible for shaping a meaningful vision, strategy, and roadmap for Architecture focus areas including Cloud First Applications and Systems Integration at CN. The role collaborates with and influences Management and Executives among various programs, from Business to I&T departments. Moreover, the position is accountable for leading software architecture practices and Enterprise Architecture (EA) initiatives delivery related to Application and Integration Architecture.
Main Responsibilities
EA – Application and Integration

• Develop Application Modernization Strategies including Application Programming Interface (API), Microservices application reference architecture, and Roadmap

• Define and lead delivery of EA initiatives (e.g. Microservices foundations)

• Document the existing CN application portfolio and propose recommendations for improvements and alternatives

• Document existing and new modernization architectures

• Design and optimize application and integration strategies for the cost-effective delivery of scalable and reliable systems

• Evaluate current and emerging applications, middleware and cloud technologies

• Lead Communities of Practice (CoPs) for efficient brainstorming, governance and change management

• Develop application and integration standards, patterns, and best practices

• Create, support, and influence pragmatic architectural oversights
Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and manage stress. The role requires minimal travel (5%).

Enterprise Architecture

  • Minimum 5 years demonstrating technical leadership qualities or overseeing deliverables
  • Minimum 10 years of overall work experience
  • Experience with EA Sparx, Archimate, and Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Experience with EA Sparx, Archimate, and Unified Modeling Language (UML)
  • Experience in program, project scoping, and planning
  • Experience in delivering agile architectures
  • Experience with DevOps and Automation
  • Experience with Legacy Systems Modernization (e.g. Mainframe, Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Java)*
  • Experience with container and orchestration technologies (e.g. Docker or Kubernetes)*
  • Experience architecting and operating solutions build on Azure or Google Cloud Platforms (GCP)*
  • Experience with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)*
  • Experience in infrastructure, networking, security, and cloud-based delivery models

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Technical Skills/Knowledge
Knowledge of Microservices, Cloud Native Services, and Application Architecture

  • Knowledge of Domain Driven Design
  • Knowledge of Web and Mobile Application Architecture (e.g.Redux, NgRx, Backend For Fronted (BFF), Micro Front End)
  • Knowledge of API (e.g. GraphQL)*
  • Familiarity with Process Driven Architecture such as Business Process Management Software (BPMS), Workflow, Rules Engines, and System for SAGA

Distributed Systems and Enterprise Messaging Architecture

  • Knowledge of Event Driven Architecture (e.g. Pub-Sub, Kafka, IBM MQ, Message Queuing Telemetry Transport (MQTT), or Advanced Message Queuing Protocol (AMQP))
  • Understanding of Async communications and reliable messaging

Application to Application (A2A) and Business to Business (B2B) Integration Architecture

  • Knowledge of Data Integration and API management Patterns
  • Knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and patterns
  • Familiarity with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) Integration

Database Architectures

  • Knowledge of Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Caching, Structured Query Language (SQL), NoSQL, Document, Graph, Search, and Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)
