We are pleased to announce the exciting role of Senior Surgery Data Analyst, a member of the growing Provincial Surgery Data and Analytics team working collaboratively across AHS.Surgery Data and Analytics at AHS is building a comprehensive and coordinated provincial surgical data and analytics system in order to efficiently provide consistent information provincially to support leaders, surgeons, staff and decision makers in surgery care delivery, planning, quality, research, utilization, outcomes, and cost management. The senior analyst will work in a consulting capacity with a range of clients to understand and define key questions, understand data suitability, differentiate and recommend appropriate methodology, and complete required analysis to deliver information responses in alignment with analytic quality standards.Due to provincial prioritization of surgical wait times reduction, analytics support will frequently encompass: reporting obligations to AHS senior executive and government; project objective tracking; and modelling and advanced analytics. A highlight responsibility will be contribution in delivering operational supporting dashboard tools via Tableau dashboards that will engage and inform users reliably to support zone and provincial goals around delivery of surgery in the province. Skills in presentation development will be a valuable asset and support in growth in this area will be provided. In alignment with ongoing implementation of Connect Care, analytic capabilities within system will also be leveraged and developed in the suitable candidate. Description:
The Senior Surgery Analyst will work within the PSDA team contributing to the overall goal of improving and leveraging the data and analytics infrastructure supporting surgery provincially. Priority of this role will be working with customers in a consultative capacity to deliver customer facing analytics solutions. Work will involve significant use of the EDW (Oracle environment) including ongoing contributions to valid data transformation from source. Analytic expertise using tools from Excel to Tableau and working with clinical end users and/or system support analysts to understand data representation based on user perspective will all form part of the analyst function. Priority skills will necessarily include time and workload management and ability to work with a wide range of customers through a consultative approach.This dynamic environment reflects the range and complexity of surgery and surgical clinical systems in the province. The Analyst will be exposed to a wide range of learning opportunities and as such the position will be well suited to an inquisitive individual looking for an opportunity to grow along with this leading edge initiative.

Required Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years in an analytic role demonstrating progressive learning, development, and responsibility.Technical: Oracle SQL. Experience with database tools and data manipulation, ideally with ETL knowledge and skillset. Metadata management, data profiling competency required. Microsoft: Experienced and confident in MS tools including advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint.Tableau: Experience in creating visualizations for varied purpose required.Strong team player with excellent communication skills is a must.There is flexibility as to the location of this position is within the Province of Alberta. At the time of appointment the successful candidate may discuss location options with the hiring manager.

Preference will be given for candidates knowledgeable with database management, scheduled processing, etc., and ETL familiarity.
