Job Description

What You’ll Be Doing

The structuring team within WSG, and in this role the analyst/associate supports the origination and maintenance of Structured Products such as Notes and MLGICs. The successful candidate will be focused on supporting the origination and administration of our products and tasks will include pricing various derivative-based structures with particular emphasis on equity derivatives, reviewing documentation, data analysis, market research, process automation, operations, and website maintenance. This role is an opportunity for someone looking to grow their skill set and knowledge of capital markets in general.

How You’ll Succeed

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist the structuring team with their daily activities and administrative tasks, including but not limited to the following:
  • Pro-actively generating derivative product ideas that are value-add to our client-base
  • Perform various analytical analysis in support of new product development
  • Perform various analytical tasks such as big data management
  • Assist in process automation and implementation of new controls to reduce operational risks and decrease inefficiencies using programming and/or other analytical tools
  • Quickly and efficiently respond to pricing requests from sales staff and clients
  • Assist in maintaining and updating our website (www.CIBCnotes.com)
  • Assisting the Advisory Group with Documentation origination and management of the documentation process
  • Creating presentations
  • Tracking noteworthy structured products released domestically and internationally
  • On your own initiative, develop product knowledge through directed or self-directed study. Be prepared to cross train when the appropriate time arises, as suggested by management. Share any developed skills, knowledge, ideas with management and other members of Global Markets. Attend learning sessions held by the Trading Room as required.

Work closely with sales, trading and research/strategy within Global Markets

COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Work effectively within CIBC’s corporate governance practices and policies (e.g. Risk Management, Finance, Human Resources, Legal and Compliance) to ensure all potential risks are appropriately addressed and that CIBC legal/reputation issues and shareholder objectives are covered, and to promote the firm’s vision, mission and values

Ensure adherence to all regulatory and legal standards appropriate to the business

Who You Are

  • Applicable Undergraduate University degree
  • Excellent quantitative skills
  • Knowledge of Derivatives would be considered an asset
  • Proven ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the brokerage industry, wealth management, structured products, derivatives and financial markets
  • Able to very quickly acquire knowledge, to demonstrate competence and to add value to the maintenance of internal processes and client relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Efficient organizational skills to respond to shifting priorities on simultaneous projects
  • Excellent working knowledge of PC applications (Excel, Word, Power Point)
  • Strong working knowledge of VBA
  • Database programming experience (SQL) would be considered an asset
  • Additional coding experience with Python, C#, and/or Java would be considered an asset
