What is the opportunity?

The Actuarial Analyst is a member of the Actuarial Implementation work stream on the IFRS17 project. The candidate will provide support for the following: coordination and production of liability cash flows from AXIS Actuarial valuation models, building of tools to automate reconciliations and AXIS output ETL, User Acceptance Testing of a vendor CSM calculation tool.

What will you do?

  • Generate liability cash flow output from AXIS valuation models to support the build of the IFRS17 CSM Prototype and the configuration of a vendor CSM calculation tool (write text)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the vendor CSM calculation tool – design test cases, perform tests and document findings, investigate issues (write text)
  • Assist with identifying and implementing improvements to the process of generating actuarial output (e.g. coding/implementing AXIS job scripts)
  • Assist in developing automated tools for reconciliation, and transformation of AXIS output
  • Collaborate with other IFRS17 teams (Integrated Close Process & Finance IT work streams) to coordinate project deliverables
  • Other tasks related to the IFRS17 project as assigned
  • What do you need to succeed?


  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree with a focus in Actuarial Science & any of Math/Statistics/Computer Science/Economics etc.
  • Able to work May to December for an 8 month co-op term.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
  • Programming skills (e.g. R, Python, SQL, SAS, VBA etc.), intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office suite (Work, Excel, Access)
  • Initiative – an independent thinker with strong collaboration, analysis, investigation skills
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and flexibility to adapt to change
  • Nice-to-have

  • Prefer experience working with Moody’s AXIS Actuarial software
  • Prefer knowledge of insurance products, actuarial concepts, IFRS 17 Standard and implications to insurance companies
  • Experience using analysis tools (Tableau, QlikView)
  • HO2021
